With Hollow Knight: Silksong en route to Nintendo Switch whenever it lands, might we see a release date there? I can only hope so.įancy this? Keep your eyes on the best new indie games out now. The latest issue of EDGE magazine brings fresh information about Hollow Knight: Silksong. In short, it is supposed to be better and much more difficult. For me, The Last Case of Benedict Fox is one of those, and, with the super-cool-looking adventure strategy game Highwater also on its books, publisher Rogue Games should be proud of its E3 2022 season showing.Į3 in its current fragmented guise, of course, continues to roll on (you've checked out our E3 2022 schedule, right?), and while it was first thought Nintendo were skipping proceedings entirely, it turns out the next Nintendo Direct could be happening later this month. In the latest issue of EDGE magazine, Team Cherry revealed some new information about Hollow Knight: Silksong. But that doesn't mean the surprises aren't worth shouting about, those games that unwittingly stop us in our tracks for all the right reasons. And, from everything we’ve seen of Hollow Knight: Silksong so far, the sequel is set to confirm it. Random: Edge Magazine Is Teasing A 'World Exclusive' Update: It's Hollow Knight: Silksong and we've got new details Liam Doolan Update 2 Sat 2nd Jan, 2021 04:45 GMT: The anticipated issue. The stature, the pizzazz, the fanfare – these games have all of this in spades, and they're the reason we have annual events in the first place. The 2017 release of the now-cult hit Hollow Knight a Metroidvania that cast you as a tiny masked bug burrowing down into a subterranean labyrinth of hidden curiosities, unlikely friends and unforgettable showdowns very much suggested it. Games like Starfield, Redfall, The Callisto Protocol, Diablo 4, and The Last of Us: Part 1 will always steal the spotlight – and rightly so. It takes place in a world of bugs, with a rich history and a deadly mystery that threatens the land. Which is also one of my favourite things about E3. Hollow Knight: Silksong is a single-player Action Adventure/Metroidvania title played from a 2D side-scrolling perspective, borrowing elements from the Dark Souls franchise and similar titles when it comes to its combat. Granted, The Last Case of Benedict Fox is a ways away from its tentative Spring 2023 release, but it's entered my radar with a bang – both as one to watch, and as an alternative to Hollow Knight: Silksong whenever it may poke its head above the parapet proper. The thought of getting to grips with a tight and punchy platformer, one that tells an intriguing tale, lets me switch off while exploring, but equally demands my full attention with my fists raised in its epic showdowns sounds absolutely perfect. Having rolled from GTA Online's The Contract update at the turn of the year into a stint in Fortnite, then Elden Ring, and latterly Sniper Elite 5, I'm feeling a wee bit burnt out on sprawling, all-encompassing open world sandboxes that offer so much to do and see at the moment. (We pray."But that doesn't mean the surprises aren't worth shouting about, those games that unwittingly stop us in our tracks for all the right reasons."Īll of which sounds right up my street. But we still expect it at some point in 2023. Whether or not Hollow Knight Silksong hits its predicted Q1/Q2 release window, as per last year's E3 showing, remains to be seen. That is, of course, testament to how wonderful the first game is – easily one of the best Metroidvania games of all-time – making number two a shoe-in among the most anticipated games for 2023. Given the fact that Silksong's Hornet protagonist was originally planned as a DLC-gated second playable character in the first game – funded as a stretch goal in Hollow Knight's successful Kickstarter campaign way back – the fact that Team Cherry's sequel is commanding so much attention now is quite remarkable. February 14 has come and gone-some may refer to it as Valentines Day, but its far more special than that. Last summer, the first Hollow Knight game's concurrent player number hit an all-time high, suggesting that intrigue in this universe is as big as it's ever been. Its been too long since Ive heard from you. In any event, the longer Silksong goes without committing to a date, or showing off new footage, or teasing new information, the faster the hype train goes. "Going by this, Silksong should appear at some point in the first half of this year, then, which is great news assuming it happens."
